It is a great pleasure to accept the role of Founding President of IRSPM. Over the past decade we have established an excellent international network of researchers in public management and public policy implementation. The move up to establishing this network as a formal Society is an important one. It offers our conference proper ownership by our research community and gives us the chance to use our network to further research and dissemination about public management.
I am fully committed to building the role and reputation of IRSPM on a collaborative basis and will actively seek alliances with other important Societies and Associations that help us to achieve our aims.

The Origins of the IRSPM
The Society has grown out of a highly successful series of annual conferences. At the ninth conference, held at Bocconi University in 2005, it was agreed that a proposal would be developed to formalise this emerging network of researchers and to establish an International Research Society for Public Management (IRSPM). This idea was unanimously accepted at the tenth conference held at Glasgow Caledonian University in April 2006. The newly established Society's mission to was develop and support research in public management and policy on an international basis.

Public Management Review (PMR) is an international, peer reviewed, journal. It is dedicated to publishing the best in new developments in empirical research or theoretical understanding about public management and public policy implementation. It is especially interested in inter-disciplinary, cross-disciplinary and inter-sectoral work. It is edited by the President of IRSPM, Stephen P Osborne and supported by a very active editorial board.
